Montage Laguna Beach Seaside Chic Wedding
Katy and Sam were married at the Montage Laguna Beach on a sunny Friday afternoon in June. Their wedding, like so many had been postponed in 2020, their original venue in Santa Barbara canceled all contracts due to construction closure and yet they worked with their event planner Magnolia Event Design to replan with grace and hope that their day would be perfect despite all the changes. "The clients were a dream to replan with- they really didn't let all the delays and postponements and changes rattle them. They stayed focus on their end goal- being married to each other and let us really help and guide them into new plan, which ultimately was perfect for them."- Lindsey Hartsough, owner of Magnolia Event Design
We were able to keep all of Katy and Sam's vendors with the exception of their venue and create a new event that fit them perfectly. Once a new beach front venue 3 hours from their original venue was secured the invitation designer- Loly of Little Postage House created an invite that featured a blind press of the Laguna Beach Hotel perched above the cliffs on the Pacific Ocean. The invitation invited guests to enjoy a weekend of events hosted at the hotel. The invitation was wrapped in a vellum liner that had a palm print in white and a wax seal in their signature green color that you would see throughout the weekend.
Guests were greeted with welcome boxes designed by Poppins and Post. The white boxes featured monogrammed hats, cucumber boxed waters, matcha snack bars, olive oil and sea salt popcorn and homemade sea salt caramels. Inside guests also found an itinerary of the events and a welcome letter from Katy and Sam. The hats were hard to miss being lime green. It was Katy and Sam's hope that as other guests saw them wearing them it would be an open invitation to greet each other and strike up a conversation. Wearing a hat myself it felt like you were part of a group and it was so fun to meet so many guests prior to the wedding day!
Katy and Sam hosted an intimate rehearsal dinner in the Studio Garden which was in full bloom. The herbs and vegetables were abundant and their fragrance filled the air! Their bridal party and parents were all seated at one long table amongst the raised garden boxes. Knot Just Flowers worked with us to create a sunset toned rehearsal dinner. The tables featured a tablescape of varying heights of lush, cascading floral centerpieces in ceramic bowls, nude colored taper candles.
Following the intimate rehearsal dinner there was a California Welcome Party where guests came together to celebrate the couple, enjoy the sunsetting on the pacific ocean and snack of California inspired bites featuring- salmon poke, cucumber ribbon wrapped watermelon bites, a churro station with dipping sauces and a full bar.
On the day of the wedding Katy and her ladies got ready with the help of TEAM Hair and Makeup. The vibe in the room was fun and celebratory- everyone was excited to see Katy (finally) walk down the aisle. Katy enjoyed her signature drink- a dirty martini and danced around the room to the playlist her closest friends had created for her.
Katy picked a gorgeous gown with the help of Nadia at NWLA. It was California chic and looked stunning against her sun kissed skin.
The bridal party entered to Somewhere Over the Rainbow played by Anthony Ybarra of Ybarra Music and the bride, who walked herself down the aisle entered to- Mr. Dan's Magic Wand Mix played by Anthony as well. Katy and Sam stood in front of their friends and family and blanketed in the warm sunlight and were married by Katy's sister, Becky. The ceremony was personal and intimate. With a kiss and the breaking of the glass, Katy and Sam were pronounced husband and wife! They exited to- All You Need is Love and halfway down the aisle stopped for one more kiss, which was perfection!
They played on the beach with Taryn Grey Photography and I Heart Films. Katy and Sam danced in the shore break before joining their guests at cocktail hour.
The dinner reception was al fresco under a canopy of string lights. The tables featured crisp white linens, driftwood chairs, whitewashed wood chargers, tropical foliage, fragrant white blooms and tall taper candles. The open air space was made more intimate with lounge groupings flanking the dance floor and palm trees placed throughout the reception area.
Guests found their seats at a custom designed green ombre seating chart. Katy and Sam were welcomed by West Coast Music's Everyday People Band and invited to the dance floor to dance to Beyond by Leon Bridges to kick off the night. After a quick dance set guests enjoyed a four course dinner of Roasted Butternut Squash Soup, Organic Lettuces, with Shaved Seasonal Vegetables, Candied Pistachios and an Aged Sherry Vinaigrette then PAN-SEARED CALIFORNIA BASS or or Filet served with Bell Pepper Stew, Saffron Potatoes and Garlic Aïoli Crostini and then were served one of the couple's favorite desserts- Sticky Toffee Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream and Warm Toffee Sauce.
Everyday People kept everyone on the dance floor well into the night. After the last song- Turn Down for What, Katy and Sam kept the party going in the Montage bar. It was truly a weekend that was in the making for a while and couldn't have been more perfect for the two of them.
After a final pool party luncheon the couple said goodbye to their guests and enjoyed a honeymoon at Amanyara in the Turks and Caicos.
