The Bacara Resort and Spa Wedding of Megan and Doug
Megan and Doug were married at Bacara Resort and Spa’s on the Bluff, Doug’s father officiated the wedding as their nearest and dearest family and friends looked on.
Megan and Doug live in Ohio, but feel in love with Santa Barbara on one of their many visits to Doug’s family’s vacation home.
Megan and Doug hired Magnolia Event Design to be their full service event design and wedding planners. In our initial meeting Megan expressed her love of rich navy, bright coral and crisp white. Together we designed an event that would give their friends in attendance a taste of Santa Barbara’s Beach Chic lifestyle.
We worked with Birch and Main on designing an invitation suite that would give guests a hint of what was to come, when they arrived in Santa Barbara. The invitations were set in tri fold navy folders with coral stitching holding the white letter pressed invitation in place. We used a fun typewriter font to complete the invitation suite. Megan and Doug love their golden retriever, Wilson, who sadly couldn’t make the wedding, so we created custom stamps incorporating him, so he would be included in the wedding.
By mid morning Megan began hair and makeup with Lunabella Makeup Art surrounded by her bridesmaids and Doug and his father set out for an early morning round of golf at Sandpiper. Each enjoyed their quality time getting ready before the wedding.
Megan and Doug opted to have a first look in hopes of taking all of the bridal party and family portraits before the wedding ceremony and so they could have some time alone after the ceremony and enjoy a few moments alone as newlyweds.
Megan’s Vera Wang wedding gown looked stunning against the deep green grass and crisp ocean blue as she made her way down the aisle. Her processional song was Going to California by Led Zeppelin.
After they were pronounced husband and wife they took a few moments alone and guests were escorted to the Ocean Terrace to enjoy sweeping ocean view, delicious past appetizers and cocktails created by Bacara and the sounds of Ybarra Music.
The dining tables were long wood feasting tables filled with coastal grasses, café au lait dahlias, calla lilies, driftwood and lots and lots of candles. The Rotunda Terrace was magical and the love was intoxicating. Guests enjoyed each and every bite, sip of wine, and toast to the newly married couple. After alternating desserts were placed we invited guests to the dance floor and they didn’t leave until the last candle was blown out. DJ Bennett of Elite Disc Jockeys kept everyone dancing and having the time of their lives. It was truly a wonderful night to remember.
